Longtime Employee Celebrates 33 Years at SharePoint
At SharePoint Credit Union, we truly value our employees. They are the heartbeat of our local financial cooperative and provide a direct line of service to and communication with our members. Chief Financial Officer Julie Tanner has been part of the team for more than three decades. Learn more about her journey from teller to CFO as this longtime employee celebrates 33 years at SharePoint CU.
SharePoint Starting Points
Julie started as a credit union teller with SharePoint CU in 1989. At that time, SharePoint CU had only five employees in the office. Prior to starting her teller positions, Julie worked at the Red Owl grocery store in Duluth. Incidentally, SharePoint CU was established in 1933 by a handful of Red Owl store employees. Pooling together their funds, those employees stretched their money and watched it go further.
Over the years, SharePoint CU has enjoyed steady, noticeable, and exponential growth. We now proudly employ about 60 personnel.
Julie’s Journey and Ingenuity
Throughout the decades, Julie’s ingenuity helped carve her path with SharePoint CU. Wondering what her journey looked like?
After working as a teller, Julie moved into an accounting role. There she worked her way up to Accounting Manager/Controller, where she supervised financial departments and staff. During this time, she finished her accounting degree from Augsburg University, Minneapolis. Then, in 2010, Julie was promoted to Chief Financial Officer at SharePoint CU.
Despite the many challenges SharePoint CU has endured, Julie has played an integral role in helping weather the storm.
Together, we’ve navigated the ever-changing economy, staffing departures and additions, mergers, loan-deposit (the ratio between the CU’s total loans and total deposits), and membership growth, just to name a few.
As a longtime employee, Julie provides a host of intangibles. She brings to the team her expertise in financial reporting, asset and liability management, and concentration and liquidity management; an understanding of financial analysis; and human resources attributes.
Outside of her work at the credit union, Julie enjoys going on vacations. She prefers warmer climates where she can sit by the pool, lake, or ocean.
