Do you receive paper checks from Social Security or Supplemental Security Income?

The Treasury Department is phasing out paper check payments and requiring federal benefit recipients to get their money electronically. By March 1, 2013, everyone getting the following federal benefits by paper check is required to switch to electronic payments.

  • Social Security
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • Veterans Affairs
  • Railroad Retirement Board
  • Office of Personnel Management
  • Department of Labor (Black Lung)

You have two options:

Direct deposit is a fast and easy way to get your benefits deposited right into your SharePoint Checking account. With direct deposit, the U.S. Treasury sends an electronic message to SharePoint crediting your Checking account with the exact amount of your benefit. Direct Deposit is safe, reliable, and easy.
